“I want my life to be effortless.”

I overheard this on a podcast a few moments ago, as I was overcomplicating and over-seasoning dinner.

Like many other projects in my life these days, I overcomplicated brown rice and broccoli.

Believe me, it’s pretty hard to feature creep brown rice and a green vegetable.

But I did it, anyway.

What does effortless feel like for you?

What feels like flow, to you?

Do that.

Here is the secret.

It’s simple.

Find a way to turn what is effortless, into income.

Less stress. Less mess. Less muss. Less fuss.

Fierce focus feels good.

Find that wave…and ride it.

It’s a beautiful idea.

Effortless doesn’t mean lazy.

It doesn’t mean taking the easy way out.

It means doing what you love…and doing what you’d do for free.

I remember hearing Jon Kabat Zinn, the “godfather” of the secular mindfulness movement in the US – saying,

find what it is that you’d do for free…..nay….PAY to do, and do that.

Find a way to make it happen.

And just be the best at it – simply because you are so god damn grateful you get to do what you love everyday for a living.

Because that’s effortless.

And that’s a life well lived.

And underneath the sound and fury – for the lucky ones, it’s what matters most.
