One of the best ways to learn mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) is to take an online course or class from a certified instructor. I stay that, only because i’m about to recommend an online mindfulness class taught by a certified instructor 🙂
In all seriousness, one of my mentors and personal heroes is Jon Kabat Zin, a man who has truly revolutionized the practice of meditation, or specifically secular meditation, in the United States and throughout the West. I have read most of his books, and seen him speak countless times, and I find myself better and more inspired to live a life of passion and purpose, each and every time without fail.
Jon (as if were are on a first name basis 🙂 started the MBSR program more than 25 years ago. At the time, mindfulness meditation was a hippy dippy idea that very few people took seriously.
Today, it’s being studied in more Universities than I could count here, and the empirical benefits of meditation, and mindfulness specifically, are piling up faster than anyone ever expected. (with changes in the brain being demonstrated as quickly as a few short weeks, and subjective, first person benefits far greater, often happening far faster as well)
