Here are a few more super duper simple ways to create a fun, easy and profitable “authority” site around an idea that inspires you to want to create content….and connect with your community in a meaningful way.
But first….a quick clarification.
In my view, the BEST way to create an “authority site” is to not have to be the one who is doing all of the content creation yourself.
I love sites that have lots of user generated content…Q and A sites, Buddypress sites, directory sites, classified or job portal style sites, video sites, and just about any type of community where your job is to build “buzz” for the blog, and not neccessarily needing to spend a ton of time, energy or effort on coming up with inspired ideas of your own everyday.
Here is a really cool new Recipe style template from Themeforest that supports all sorts of community curated content, and you can literally build a great looking niche recipe style site for just about $50, and invite your users, readers, fans and followers to not only submit their own recipes and build buzz for your blog, but to actually promote their OWN blogs, or businesses as well. (as people who like their recipes or their creative cuisine content, are obviously very likely to check out what they are doing elsewhere….be it a restaurant or food business they may have, or whether they are an aspiring culinary coaches, or simply just a foodie who likes to write about their own adventures with ingredients of one kind or another)
Another very simple idea that you can integrate into your OWN blog to start creating user generating content for free, is simply to include a Q and A plugin on your site that allows your readers, subscribers, fans, friends or followers to ask you questions about whatever it is that you love to do, or know best, or to simply get access to your expertise in a way that not only demonstrates your knowlege, but that shows that you are available, accessible and willing (and able) to help.
Obviously this is a great way of selling your services as well, and learning what sort of questions people REALLY have about your area of expertise, or what they really hope to learn about in the niche, market or industry that you’d love to call a career.
There are so many cool and creative and fun ways to build an authority style site….I certainly have my favorite “go to” approaches that work wonderfully well for me, but you you don’t have to do it “my” way to find a strategy that works equally as well for your ideas, and ethos.
On a quick side note….
I watched an interesting interview last week with Peter Theil (the legendary and visionary investor of Paypal and Facebook fame)on how AIRBNB may be the next 100 BILLION (with a B 🙂 dollar business, and while you or I are probably NOT going to start the next 10 Billion dollar authority site from scratch like the founders of AIRBNB did (and on a bootstrap budget in the beginning) the truth is….there are certainly plenty of easy and affordable ways to build very SIMILAR style sites that leverage the trust and familiarity that those style authority sites engender……and in a myriad of markets for a few hundred bucks…and build strong 6 figure businesses around serving the niche that YOU love, using the same tools, templates and techniques that the big players are using to change the world.
(you can literally build a “clone” style site in just about any niche you want for a few hundred bucks, and using the simple strategies I’ve outlined here for being proactive and using very specific content types, you can literally have a blooming authority site built out of thin air….and in less than 90 days, something I’ll be demonstrating to a select few of you in October, contact me for more info 🙂
Here is a very simple AIRBNB style directory template that looks great – is under $100 and while I haven’t used it myself, I have a client who loves it….and her simple niche community is growing by leaps and bounds using it.
There are so many fun ways to do this stuff…..that you are truly only limited by your imagination and inspiration and willingness to work a little bit on the way to building something you’ll be proud of for years to come! 🙂
