I was looking for a couple videos on Youtube to post for another site, and came across this on here from the Big Idea With Donny Deutsch (sp?) show.
Now, I'm not a big fan of this sort of show ( as I really only watch Intervention (because everyone loves a funny drunk), Keeping up with the Kardashians ( big Bruce Jenner fan) and occasionally I'll watch Sunset Tan for a little late night intellectual stimulation.
But I thought this video was actually pretty good for a number of reasons, and sort of apropos to the whole online selling space. So many people try to be a complete know it all, and use all of these sorts of formulaic approaches to selling more stuff
( ie - buy it now cause it's going it away soon and there are only 84,48 left, buy it now because everyone else is doing it (( a lesson in peer pressure I should have learned to avoid after a bad batch of peyote in Mexico circa 1998)) buy it now because if you don't you'll never make your mother proud, etc)
Essentially, the whole of art of online selling has sort of shrunk down to the lowest common element of preying on all of our obvious human frailties in an effort to make as much cash as possible. And I guess I'm guilty of the same thing, so I'm really not trying to pass judgment here - but really liked what the first woman had to say on this video for a number of important reasons. I'm taking a break from blogging. It occured to me sometime last week, that I simply don't have that much to say. Sometimes silence is a virtue, and i'm thinking this may be one of those times. I am however, actively writing and working on my business at a frenzied, frantic pace - some days putting in close to 18 hours of non stop article campagns, landing pages, copywriting, PPC, and lots more across a whole host of niche blog networks that will be my focus going forward. I've gotten a few interesting questions over the last few days about selling affiliate products, this one came in this morning and seems to cover a few good points that lots of people struggle with, so let's cover it quickly and see if there is a little light at the end of the article marketing tunnel for everyone.
Hi,
I have been article marketing for a couple months now for affiliate
products like Clickbank etc.
I have enjoyed some success, but there are a few things I do notice about
article marketing that I would like to fix so I can take myself to a better
level.
1. About half of my articles actually seem to turn out good.
2. Traffic from articles seems to drop to a trickle after a couple weeks
3. Re-writing winning articles multiple times for submission to other
directories is a huge pain and time sucker how to get around this properly
Thanks,
Troy

It's truly amazing how much bad content there is out there, polluting the minds of people who simply don’t' know better with stupid, silly strategies to make money online. When you submit a lot of articles to the directories, you get the benefit of lots of "publishers" re purposing your content on their sites…
it's part of the deal ( and theoretically one of the advantages) of allowing your content to be syndicated freely by other site owners.
It also opens a wide window into the wild and wacky world of the many ways people regurgitate other peoples stuff to serve their own purposes. If you do a lot of this sort of stuff – i.e. – article submissions, etc – I challenge you to "follow the links" in your Wordpress dashboard and check out some of the sites that are running ruining your stuff. Sadly, I'm not even talking about the blog spam. I mean – I don't like it…but I guess I understand how my post on improving your click through rates is relevant for a Ukrainian Russian dating blog with a mad lib style content spinner alternating copywriting tips with a travel agency eque sales pitch on why repatriating to eastern Europe for the love of your life is a romantic adventure we all should try. Use Multiple Personalities to Crush Your Control: A Simple, Schizophrenic Tip for Wordpress Bloggers
In this post we are going to cover a pretty easy way to supercharge your conversions on your Wordpress blog. This particular method works phenomenally well on niche blogs where you are driving traffic free from Craigslist, article directories, press releases, and even is a simple, but subtle way to convert a better percentage of your pay per click traffic. (As well as potentially raising your quality score as well) It's free, it's effective for fairly obvious reasons that should be sufficiently self evident, and best of all, it can be retrospectively applied to a large blog with lots of existing content to immediately make you more money.
