Hey Ian - This is pretty tempting, but at the moment I probably couldn't afford it haha... definitely cool though, and hopefully you'll keep running this in the future, I'm definitely interested! I'm so anxious to get a successful business of the ground, making me some moolah.

Cheers!

Hi Teri - You can have a ONE page site up and start marketing (an offer or opt in page for example) and do very well. (and many have and still do)

A blog - by defintion though, you sort of want to update for a lot of different reasons, both "search engine" related, and for other purely pragmatic purposes - i.e. - if I had 4 posts on here - and you read them all, and every time you came back you saw the same "top" post, you probably would stop coming by pretty fast, even if you enjoyed the content you did read. (and I think we can all relate to that experience, as many blogs are adandoned)

For a static site - I think it's ok to leave as is - and just add a blog to it - and update that. But the marketing is sort of interwoven on the blog (as in - this blogs markets "me" - while the stuff I do away from this blog also markets "me" when I'm writing or creating content to promote this particular part of my online experience)

I guess I just wouldn't worry about "rules". There really aren't any at all - and just do what makes sense for your goals. (if you have a killer service, for example - and a great offer, NOTHING says you can do exceedingly well sending all of your traffic to one page, that is designed to do nothing OTHER than convince everyone who arrives to buy your stuff, use your services or whatever it is that you are selling)

Hi Ian,

When do you know a site is complete enough to start the marketing phase? What are the key pages a site should have to start marketing. I have read so much information that for some sites (blogs) you only need 5 - 6 good post and other folks say you need to keep posting and adding new content all the time?

Thanks again for your time.

The major season is over for my simple little site, but there are events that happen all year long and that was my original intention with my site. I ran into several technical dilemma's which have led to my dis-enchantment about this whole process. Your site gives me hope every time you send me an email I can't resist reading. I can't wait to find out more about your coaching offer.
