Another super simple way to amp UP your conversion percentage (and to borrow tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars of testing, tweaking and "in house" ad copy improvements without paying a dime)

In our last conversion tip we talked about using images and screen shots from the landing pages of your vendors to borrow the in house copy and creative that perform, you can safely assume, BEST for the actual merchants and advertisers that are putting out the offers.

The simple truth is that, if you are promoting CPA offers, especially on a straight redirect for example, you already know that you can often "intuit" how well YOUR traffic will perform on a given offer, simply by sizing up the appeal of the landing page.

And in many of these markets where trying to figure out the competitive advantages of the different products being promoted (think short form free trials) the "prettiness" of the page - and the call to action urgency elements of the copy are really super significant to how many people will act….. on the offer.

Borrowing these elements on your OWN blogs is a great way to garner a bit of an advantage is this regard for yourself….and often a few extra clicks per day can translate into a significant "bump" in your earnings….and enthusiasm, especially if you are just getting started.

I want to share with you another way of getting the very same effect…...by simply checking and borrowing out the "text" ads and call to action elements that many advertisers use to drive a lot of their traffic, and most often, have the HIGHEST EPC (or earnings per 100 visitors) on the major affiliate networks like CJ.com

This is especially effective for people who struggle to get good click through rates on their ad copy – blog posts, article resource boxes, opt in headlines when using name squeeze techniques for affiliate offers, and of course, just about everywhere else you are trying to get people to act on the offer you are promoting.

The strategy is SO simple it’s silly….yet I see almost no one doing it, or talking about it anywhere.

  1. Go to CJ.com
  2. Go to the "get links" administration panel
  3. Check out the top performing creative’s with the highest EPC, and check out the text the advertiser is using to get the best click through rates. (almost always the highest EPC of the entire lot of creatives)
  4. Take that text….and start to test it! Writing articles? Instead of trying to figure out the best way to compel, cajole and coerce people to click.….borrow what the vendor is already TELLING you is converting best and stick it in your resource boxes.
  5. Rather than sticking that pretty banner…..or 300 X 250 square ad in your sidebar…..borrow the text instead – and use THAT as the "eye candy" to get your audience to act on your primary offer
  6. And MOST powerfully…..if you are using a blog template like thesis that uses "hooks", simply take two of these high EPC text links and weave them into the template itself….both immediately ABOVE and BELOW each and every post. Meaning EVERY time you add a new post, the calls to action will auto magically "appear" exactly in the same place each and every time.
  7. A nice and more advanced permutation of this approach? Using a rotational script or ad serving network like OPEN X (which is free), you can rotate DIFFERENT borrowed high EPC text link "messages" within your blog template on autopilot...and you can see for yourself which text links are getting the most action with YOUR readership, and where.

Does this work equally as well with OFF site copy?

It can….absolutely! For example, with article marketing, I’ve had markets where I’ve struggled and suffered through horrendously bad click through rates on every resource box permutation I tried……and no matter what I tested….I couldn’t get the click through rates high enough to make any money.

Having a "light bulb moment" a few years back, and simply "borrowing" the high EPC text links that the advertisers are already telling you make them the most money…..I’ve been able to take previously poor performing campaigns and "retro-fit" them with cut and paste copy that truly DOES convert like crazy.

(and that I haven’t had to write, or come up with on my own…and as I’m sure you’ll agree, that’s always a nice plus..:-)

(note…..I’ve also seen the REVERSE happen as well, where the text links will work great on a blog, but simply don’t work well on other mediums. The key? You’ve got to be willing to try it, see what works best for you and stick with it)

You can also do something similar with PPC ads – either on the exact affiliate offers you are promoting, or even by checking out the competition, and simply emulating the copy, or call to action that the advertiser is using.

Either keeping an accurate history manually…...or using a spy tool like Ispionage, you can see how long, and how successful the ads are in not only driving traffic, but theoretically at least, how effective those ads are at converting that very same traffic as well. (Ispionage will tell you how long the ads have been running, for which keywords and whether those ads are being split tested against OTHER ads and alternate copy….all incredibly important intelligence that you can borrow, leverage and copy for your own campaigns)

Lastly…..remember the real value in all of this is NOT in the individual improvements each of these approaches will offer.

Rather….as I mentioned in the previous post, it’s the systematic STACKING of each little "bump" on top of the other that leads to explosive, eye opening and often amazing increases that can transform the tired and timid, into totally terrific.

My goal with this whole series of conversion "tips"?

To simply to give you enough little "bumps", that you can legitimately double or triple the amount of actions you get…..on the very same traffic you get today.
