landing page.pngI never understand why people do this.  Really.  Genuinely and honestly….what is the thought process that immediately preceedes slapping your landing page which 16 different ads ( some of which have nothing to do with the topic of the site) all butting up against each other in a collage like car wreck of creative crisis?

Affiliate Marketing Mistakes:  Confuse & Conquer Will NEVER Work

I don’t get it…and it will NEVER work – you will NEVER make money with this sort of monetization strategy and it amazes me how prevelant this sort of shallow thinking really is. It honestly makes me angry.  If I wasn’t taking my medication everyday, i’d probaby head butt the wall out a sense of futile frustration.   Fill up every available pixel with something shiny and people break out their wallets and high tail it to the affiliate offer?

Less is ALWAYS More With Affiliate Offers (& Gisele Bundchen)

This screenshot came from someone who is selling their OWN ebooks on some sort of dream therapy, or Jungian intellectual mumbo jumbo….certainly a smart cookie you would think, right?

But she’s complaining on a popular forum about her niche being TOO competitive to convert, and being the stalker type that I am without anything better to do on a Friday night, I follow the link to this nightmare of conflicted concience and affiliate overkill.

If I’m selling my own ebooks I wouldn’t have ANYONE’S else’s offers on the page anyway to be honest….but if you do, make them small, selective and somewhat subtle.

The very best advice if you are new to affiliate marketing – (or ANY type of marketing for that matter) – the straightest line to saynora is to confuse people with too many options.

I’ve said it here on several occassions in just the last few weeks, but it’s SO true and the easiest thing to fix ( and why I constantly tweak my OWN somewhat minimalistic appraoch here – even when I add too much verbosity or imagery in the sidebars, etc - my bounce rates jump like Jay Z’s  67 El Camino)

I’ll share a few of my own over the next couple days that convert well on affiliate CTR – and the alternatives I’ve used that didn’t.
