Analyzing Your Analytics

the thinker.jpgAnalyzing Your Analytics:  The Depressing Truth About Your Readers Revealed

I try my best not to take my self too seriously.  At the end of the day, i’m acutely aware that nothing tears down Roman Empire Aspirations quicker than a misplaced sense of self importance and granduer.  Part and parcel of trying to achieve great things, at least in my view, is an everpresent awareness of the limits of what you really DO know, and hopefully a humble way of sharing and informing others with these simple truths, once you recognize they will helpful to others.

So you’ll have to forgive the following rant.  Or, not really a rant – but rather a sad statement of unfortunate fact.  I have spent many hours putting this information together, posting the case studies, answering questions, and sharing successful strategies with a sea of nameless, faceless people stopping by for the most part, to learn something to apply to their own efforts, and endeavors.  And I really don’t want anything in return. I don’t want a fuzzy Christmas card with good tidings and one of those pop – up little nativity scenes in the middle.  I don’t want a bottle of tequila for New Years.  I don’t want paypal donations, adsense clicks or affiliate program purchases.  Other than several personal in depth consultations I’ve done over the last few months that I’ve actually charged for, for the most part, all of this is totally gratis.  Free.   Sharing for the simple strategic goal of helping other people, most of whom I will never meet, speak to or even share a single short email with.    All I’d really like is for you to READ what I’ve shared if that’s what you came here to find.  When I write for this site – it’s a very different experience than creating content for a niche type site…i will try to picture who you are when you stop by.  How old are you – what challenges you are facing, what obstacles are holding you back…where the little sticking points are, be it the technology, the execution, the strategy, the ad copy.  I picture your proverbial hurdles, and I try my best to jump them for you.  ( and I’ve got bad knees, so it ain’t easy)

And what never ceases to absolutely blow me away…Especially as it pertains to some of the Craigslist stuff, is how many people arrive here using the EXACT keywords and phrases I targetted originally when picturing who you are, where you needed help, and how I could help you to achieve your goals while hop scotching and jumping over all of the bumps, bruises and obstacles I hit (and still do) on my path to profitable posting processes.  And they stop, look for half a millisecondAnd gone.  Whoosh.  Vaporized to the next site, search or quest for what was just staring them smack in the face.  if you look at some of the phrases that are bringing some of these folks by – these are actually the EXACT topics being covered in 3 and 4 thousand word posts ( or more) identifying, addressing and resolving these hyper specific common craigslist campaign confusions.  Lesser men and women, I may add are CHARGING for less complete dissections than this.  Yet – they were gone before they had a chance to see it. And I really don’t get it.  Every single day it’s the same thing, too.  I just don’t understand and it really makes me shake my head in this self important narccistic sort of way -because, well – really I wrote it for them.  And you too of course…But if you ARE reading this, you fit into the smaller group who happens to be paying attention..:-)  And don’t misunderstand – I’m not saying that I HAVE all of the answers..Just that due dillegence would sort of require one to at least spend 30 seconds reading the text on the page to make that determination.  If the content sucks, well – I understand people jumping ship and moving on.  Unfortunately for them, that ain’t the case here..;-)

And this is why the VAST majority of people will fail online – or off – in any constructive attempt to be self supporting.  They simply don’t have the patience, attention span or clarity of thought to know what they’re looking for, or to recognize when they’ve found it.  I’ve made and lost my share of fortunes in my short time on this maginifcent planet thus far – and surely will do the same a few more times before I’m finished.  I’ve had equal success with both making it, and spending foolishly  just as fast.  But I’ve ALWAYS succeeded or failed on the merit of my own mind – and efforts – straight out of college 15 years ago, and wouldn’t have it any other way.  I can only tell you how MUCH information I read everyday trying to keep up..how many blogs, sites, feeds and forums and so much more I need to pay attention to to stay current and and comfortable.  I remember watching a seminar a number of years ago given by one of the very few magical marketing minds I’ve come across and respect out there who said he spends $50,000 a year on his competitors materials.  And t his was preceeding the big internet marketing days.  That’s when you had to buy the cd’s, the books and the courses through the mail.  Now you can simply budget out 60 minutes a day and check out what is topical, relevant and beneficial for you to know through an RSS reader – or if you are a year or two behind, even your browser will do..:-)

And yet, still most won’t even do that.  Flitter, flutter from one flim flam to the next utterly resigned and resolved to search forever for elusive answers that were never too far from their outstretched eyes.

Anyway – I’m hoping the information YOU find here is helpful.  And if it’s not – Let me know, leave me a comment, email me or simply see if we have some sort of telepathic connection and send it that way.  Actually – please don’t – my head hurts everyday as it is.  But if you aren’t getting the answers here, get them somewhere..:-)  They are out there – you just need to know where to find them, and pay attention once you have!  I know I do.
