Here is a really good example, of a REALLY bad resource box.  What makes this particularly scary, is - well, this guy is giving advice to how small entrepreneurs can stop thinking SMALL business's and start playing with the big boys.  Now - I'm not sure about you, but the VERY first lesson they teach you in the hard knocks world of direct response copywriting is….."what's in it for me".  Or - said differently, features tell, benefits sell.  This particular wayward soul took about 620 pixels and 36 seconds out of my precious day to give me his life story.

NOTHING about what he could do for my business.  NOTHING about how my life would be immeasurably brighter, fuller and more robust by simply picking up the phone and allowing him to gently lead me by the hand to a brave new world of fame, fortune and inner peace.  If you are writing articles - do NOT make this same mistake.  I'm an idealist and at heart, an empathetic soul who pretty much tries to see the grass as evergreen.  Yet somewhere not too far down from the surface, I realize with profound clarity no one reading this really cares who I AM.

You care only IF I can help you get what YOU want.  And if I can…then you'll spare some room to take a quick peak at my vacation pictures and my Thanksgiving stories about Aunt Esther.  But short of that - most of us could really care less.

Terry T just doesnt' get it.  His career path isn't relevant, and to be perfectly honest - it flat out bored me to tears.  If you are goign to write and submit articles, do yourself a favor - make your resource box a whole hell of alot better than this.

Terry also refers to himself in the third person, which is very annoying and supposed to be reserved for big stars like The Rock.   Or even R. Kelly.

— note - Terry's last name has been removed just in case he is big and has a bad temper.  Thank you for understanding..;-)

"Terry T.  comes from the marketing and advertising world. In 1991, he graduated with honours from the Advertising Program at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

Terry learned the psychology of sales. What to say and more importantly…what not to say to have prospects beating down the doors to buy, buy, buy.

In 2001, he hopped onto the internet with the hopes of expanding his mail order business. At first glance it seemed pretty simple.

There were Free For All (FFA) sites where he could advertise to millions of people, free. Classified ad sites would run ads for $5 or $10, or the big expensive ones were $20 a month.

To put that into perspective, T. was spending $600-$1000 a month offline on classified ads, so $20 a month was like hitting the jackpot.

Once he had his first online business running profitably, he sold it for $10,000. Then he started a new online business and currently owns 42 websites.

Terry T. is a copy writer, marketing consultant and business coach. He specializes in helping small business owners communicate like big business."
